We had a great time in St. George with family and friends for Thanksgiving. It was something of an adventure getting there and then even more so coming home! Highway 58 was closed at 395 near Barstow so we took a scenic detour to go around the clog - 25 miles on dirt roads! 20 Mule Team Road was part of the trip. It was a challenge and cost us an hour but friends told us they were stuck there for up to 3 hours so I guess that it saved us time in the end.
It was good to have everyone together (Kiel was in Salt Lake City visiting friends there) and spend time together. Mariah was the hit of the party. Everyone wanted to hold her. Of course we took our turns and gave the others a little time. The normal Thanksgiving sports routines were marred by the "less than successful" week that OSU had in the Maui Invitational. We had hoped for a better performance but Brad did well in limited action due to his injury. Scott's and Kristin's house is beautiful and maybe if they get some neighbors they'll stay there. Hope Scott does ok putting up the lights...
The ride home was made long by some car trouble... we never had any trouble with the BMW but it seemed to develop an over heating problem coming out of the mountains. We limped into Bakersfield, found no one to service it on Saturday, and, after a 6 hour layover while it cooled (and while Brittany took the opportunity to buy her own car), we decided to nurse it home. While Trice, Britt and Birdene took Britt's purchase home, I nursed the BMW home. Actually I arrived before the others. Through divine intervention, the BMW had virtually no trouble all the way home.
All in all, a great trip. We have much to be thankful for in our lives. Hope your holiday was great!
